Question:
What is the rule of eating non halal meat in a non Muslim country. I am living with some Arabs and they said their sheikh said it is okay to eat chicken if you are in non-Muslim country. Is this true? Is it possible the shafi sheikh said yes and hanafi said no?

Dear Shaikh Kutty. I have posted my question twice but I am not getting any answer from you. Please help me with your scholarly advice. It is urgent for me. Is it permissible to eat food from fast-food store (like McDonalds) and supermarkets in North America? Do I need to judge whether they slaughter like us(Muslims)or not ? I am a university student. I live in university hall and the only way to get my lunch and dinner is from campus cafe.I hope you will understand my situation and clarify my notion. Thanks
Should I eat food containing meat which is sold in non-Muslim stores and stamped "Halal" by some organizations?
I often go out for lunch and dinner with professional and personal friends, and I often find myself in an awkward position of stressing over what to order. I only eat halal, but at most restaurants, the only thing I can eat are either vegetarian and fish dishes which are not to my taste at all, or the non-halal chicken and beef items. Is it ok for me to eat the non-zabiha chicken etc strictly on such occasions only?
