Question: A friend of mine is in distress. She owes a non-muslim an amount of money but this person has died and she wants to know how to pay of the debt. The deceased has no family. She has asked her imam but he didn't have an answer for her just told her to search the web for a similar case. But we can't find anything so I hope I will get an answer here.
Answer:

If she has failed to find anyone related to him, then she should give the money away in charity on his behalf. That is the only way she can dispose of it, and thus complete the conditions of repentance. She should do so without delay. It is not allowed for us to sit on with wealth or income that is considered haraam or dubious.
