Asalam Alaikum. Does Islam say that people of other religions go to hell? despite their belief in God. What if somebody was very religious and had a strong belief in God but were Christian do they go to hell still? why or why not? Thank you for your time.

Some of my Canadian friends always ask me about Islam. Their most confusing question is: Why would a good non-Muslim person go to hell when all he did in this life is good deed? Why would God punish a Christian or a Jewish person if they were born into their religion? Are we Muslims also responsible for those non -Muslims because we didnt deliver the true message as we should?
